So I had my appointment with the pain specialist on Monday. It's very comforting to have a doctor who right away proves to you he knows what he's talking about and also that he actually believes that the pain you're describing to him is actually real. It's also nice to hear your doctor say that he knows that he's not dealing with something that is "typical" per-say, but rather he's dealing with something that is unusual, or as he said, "bizarre."
So, after taking a lot of notes and listening to me and my mama try to paint a motion picture, he helped form a game plan. He said he wants to do a scan of my nerves and she how and where they are firing. He was shocked to hear that I hadn't gone in for an MRI. So he wrote an order for one on my abdomen and I went in for it on Tuesday.
Some of the people I had talked to about MRI's told me that it would be a tough one to handle. They shared their own experiences with me, and some told me that they weren't claustrophobic until they had had an MRI. They also told me I'd be fine so long as I just focused on my breathing. So as I'm filling out the paperwork in the waiting room, I'm starting to get really nervous.
I went in the the technician told me it would take about 20-25 minutes to get all the images. As I'm lying down on the table and as he's pushing the table into the machine I could feel my heart pounding. But as I got inside, I realized that I would be just fine. The space was not that bad and I knew I could do it. The only thing my friends didn't prepare me for was the noise. :) but it wasn't too bad. They gave me earplugs and they helped.
As I'm getting ready to leave the hospital they tell me my results should be sent to my doctor by the next day. So Wednesday afternoon rolls around and the doctors office calls me with my results. Drum roll please... the results came back normal! Yay... they still don't know what's wrong with me! ...ha okay enough sarcasm for the day.
So next Thursday I have the lovely nerve scan and if he can't find whats wrong then, well, I'm not entirely sure what will come next but I'm sure whatever it is it will be full of excitement! Before I go, I want to say thank you for all the prayers, and texts of encouragement that have been sent my way! I wouldn't be able to cope and deal with this trial in my life. I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many people who love and care for me!

The latest
Lot's of you are coming to look at this to see the update of the past few months of my life. Well, I'm not sure if I will continue to write in this blog but for now, it's a place where hopefully all your questions will be answered.
As some of you may know, my upper abdomen has been having unexplained pains since the end of December. I have been to doctors and they have run tests and there are no answers. They continue to put me on new medication hoping that it will have an affect, but they haven't done anything so far. Yesterday I went to my doctor who has been treating me for about a month and he again started me on some new medication (a stronger version of what I had been on for the past 3 weeks).
I'm not sure if the stress of hearing there was again no answers for me, on top of the new medication, and also having my stomach hurt, but I started to have an anxiety attack. It got so bad my parents called the paramedics. Ha, 3 cop cars and a fire engine later, I found myself lying on the floor in my parents room trying to compose my breathing. I got it under control and the tingling sensation in my arms and legs went away. Once everyone cleared the room, things went back to normal. I always wanted to ride in an ambulance but I guess that it just wasn't meant to be. Better luck next time ;)
So my next plan of attack is to go see a pain specialist. My mom was talking to a secretary at one of the schools she was at and found that this woman's daughter also has had similar stomach pains for the past 9 years. It turns out that this woman's daughter had carpal tunnel and her nerves were blocked in her hands so it sent the pain to another place in her body. Any way this woman told my mom about this pain specialist who found the nerves that were causing the problem. So I now have an appointment for Friday. I'll post on here about how it goes.
It is very disappointing to hear over and over again that doctors have no answers. It's also very frustrating to go and have them tell me they are going to try new medications on me even though they have no idea what is wrong with me. But hopefully I'll get some answers soon. Until the next post, keep smiling :)
